I was well into my 20’s before I knew anything about the real St. Patrick. What’s not to love about a guy who legends say drove all the snakes out of Ireland?! 🙂
So just in case you’re curious and would like to read a bit about him…
Today the kids and I are making these, don’t they look good? The idea came from my friend, Amy:
“Here’s a neat recipe for St. Patrick’s day – maybe with some variations…like using homemade bread and raw cheese.” (Does she know me or what?)
Do you have any St. Patrick’s Day recipes or traditions?

The “snakes” were the pagans, actually. 🙂

But I like to think it’s the crawly kind!

I just taught the story of St. Patrick to the kids in my Bible Study yesterday! 🙂 We also talked about how the shamrock can be used to teach about the trinity.

Interesting. I’d heard the story as flushing the Pagans out, which obviously has very different meaning. Especially when told by Pagans. 🙂

The snakes probably signified the Pagans, but I really liked the idea of NO snakes being there. LOL!

It’s always hard when the stories have uncomplimentary aspects. The one that personally upsets me is when people are talking about Martin Luther and all of the good he accomplished. I know that he made some major changes to Christianity, but he also advocated burning down synagogues.
