“How Do You Keep Them Out?”

September 11, 2011 Leave a Comment

The kids and I just got back from visiting the West Michigan Healing Field, a local memorial for those who died on September 11th, 2001.  Each of the 3200 flags represent a life lost that day, including 21 who were Michigan residents. The flag tribute is on display for five days at the Cannonsburg Ski Area (near Grand Rapids) from September 9th through September 13th, 2011.  If you live nearby, you really need to go.  Don’t miss the moving video below.

Here are some pictures I wanted to share with you, and also my favorite quote of the day from a Grand Rapids fire chief:

“People have asked how I get men to go into a burning building and risk their lives to save others.  My answer to them is, ‘How do I keep them out?'”

These were on the flags with information about each person who died.

I love this next one because I had just been talking to the kids about the quote, “There are no menial jobs, only menial attitudes.”

Hi I’m Kelly, a Catholic Christian, a wife, a homeschooling Mom, and a writer.  Matthew’s Gospel says, “Man does not live by bread alone” — and as passionate as I am about real food, nutrition, and natural healing, I believe that knowing the Lord is even more important!  So I started this blog in addition to my other one so I could hopefully help those who don’t “get” a lot of things about Christianity, which is just how I used to feel.

Over at my Kelly the Kitchen Kop blog I talk about how you keep your family healthy without going crazy in the process. 🙂

Be sure to subscribe for new updates above, that way you won’t miss anything, although I don’t update here very often.
