A Church I Never Knew About

January 5, 2011 2 Comments

This is a copy of what the first Bible printed in English in America looked like. This Bible was printed by the U.S. Congress in 1782. In the records it says that this Bible was, “A neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools.” So the first Bible printed in America in English was printed by Congress for the use of our schools?

How Small Are We?

My friend, Brother Andy, sent the following video with these words: “Here is a video clip that I think is worth watching. It brings to mind the immensity of God’s creation, but more so, despite our place in this large universe, God still thought so much of us that he sent his only Son to redeem […]

C.S. Lewis on Prayer Struggles – Guess What: You’re Normal

October 29, 2010 Leave a Comment

Just like most people, I often struggle with my prayer life. It just seems like this should come more natural. After all, He’s GOD. Shouldn’t I want to just sit with Him more and more instead of worrying so much about my long to-do lists?

Hope is a powerful thing

A couple weeks ago the Sunday Gospel reading at Mass really grabbed me.  I’m going to copy it here, but if you’re like I was before I got into my faith more, scripture quotes might freak you out because you’re not sure you “get it” and it all still seems so foreign.  Just stick with […]

Did you know this was in the Bible? (Re-posted)

September 9, 2010 1 Comment

(I’m re-posting this because my site was hacked last week and I don’t know if anyone saw this one!) It occurred to me this morning as I was reading the daily Mass readings (which I get on my iPhone!), that many of you may have been raised how I was, meaning you didn’t read the […]

Learning More About Jesus and Revelations After a Minor Accident

Everyone likes a good story, you’ll like this one from Fr. James Martin’s Facebook page, and also a good video with him answering the question, “Who Cares About the Saints?”

The Prayer Project

prayer project

Even if you’re still on the journey and don’t yet fully embrace the idea of God and prayer, I’ll bet there are times in your life that you wish you believed. Times that you could really use a little help from above. Everyone is either going through a tough time now, or will at some point in your life. Will you “act as if” you believe it all, just for a little while? There are many people out there who have big hearts and would like to pray for you if only you ask. God might surprise you, too.

Hi I’m Kelly, a Catholic Christian, a wife, a homeschooling Mom, and a writer.  Matthew’s Gospel says, “Man does not live by bread alone” — and as passionate as I am about real food, nutrition, and natural healing, I believe that knowing the Lord is even more important!  So I started this blog in addition to my other one so I could hopefully help those who don’t “get” a lot of things about Christianity, which is just how I used to feel.

Over at my Kelly the Kitchen Kop blog I talk about how you keep your family healthy without going crazy in the process. 🙂

Be sure to subscribe for new updates above, that way you won’t miss anything, although I don’t update here very often.
