C.S. Lewis on Prayer Struggles – Guess What: You’re Normal

October 29, 2010 Leave a Comment

Just like most people, I often struggle with my prayer life. It just seems like this should come more natural. After all, He’s GOD. Shouldn’t I want to just sit with Him more and more instead of worrying so much about my long to-do lists?

Hope is a powerful thing

A couple weeks ago the Sunday Gospel reading at Mass really grabbed me.  I’m going to copy it here, but if you’re like I was before I got into my faith more, scripture quotes might freak you out because you’re not sure you “get it” and it all still seems so foreign.  Just stick with […]

Did you know this was in the Bible?

September 9, 2010 1 Comment

It occurred to me this morning as I was reading the daily Mass readings (which I get on my iPhone!), that many of you may have been raised how I was, meaning you didn’t read the bible at all growing up, and maybe you still don’t.  You may not even have a desire to yet.  […]

Have you ever heard of a “Novena” prayer?

May 14, 2010 Leave a Comment

It wasn’t until I was in my 20’s and converted to the Catholic faith (I’ll tell you more about that someday) that I even heard the word, “Novena”. There’s nothing mysterious about it, though, it’s just a nine-day prayer. The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost…

It’s stressful to be a god.

Now and then I’ll link to a post from the “Conversion Diary” blog. Usually it’s when Jen writes another post about me. I don’t know how she keeps doing that.

Spiritual Dry Spells

May 25, 2009 1 Comment

Recently I’ve been struggling with a spiritual dry spell. What do I mean by that? It means that doing my morning readings has been a struggle for the past few months and I fail at least half the time (and then feel terrible about not putting God first in my day). It means that when […]

Do you know any “odd” Christians?

April 3, 2009 1 Comment

Let’s face it. There are some neat Christians and some odd Christians. Just like any other group of people in the world. And to one, someone could be in the “neat” category, and for another they might be in the “odd” category. These are the things that make the world go ’round. (How boring would […]

Are You Busy? Watch Out…

March 9, 2009 1 Comment

I received this via email and it really made me think… SATAN’S MEETING: (Read even if you’re busy) Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said, “We can’t keep Christians from going to church.” “We can’t keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.” “We can’t even keep […]

Strategies For When You Hear the Lord’s Name Spoken in Vain

December 14, 2008 Leave a Comment

I don’t know about you, but my BIGGEST PET PEEVE is when I hear the Lord’s name spoken in vain. Several people we love speak this way often, and it always makes our toes curl. I’d much rather hear an F-bomb dropped any day… and I’m sorry if this offends you, but I have to […]

My Conversion Story and How Our Marriage was Healed

January 27, 2008 17 Comments

Have you ever gone through bumps in your marriage?  Do you know how normal you are, even if the bumps are much more like Mount Everest? You don’t hear about the ones who make it… Normally we only hear about marriages that didn’t make it, but rarely do you know when someone went through a […]

Hi I’m Kelly, a Catholic Christian, a wife, a homeschooling Mom, and a writer.  Matthew’s Gospel says, “Man does not live by bread alone” — and as passionate as I am about real food, nutrition, and natural healing, I believe that knowing the Lord is even more important!  So I started this blog in addition to my other one so I could hopefully help those who don’t “get” a lot of things about Christianity, which is just how I used to feel.

Over at my Kelly the Kitchen Kop blog I talk about how you keep your family healthy without going crazy in the process. 🙂

Be sure to subscribe for new updates above, that way you won’t miss anything, although I don’t update here very often.
